Don’t lose each other when polarization gets close

A good discussion is an exchange of ideas. When you talk to each other about different points of view, everyone ideally becomes wiser. However, with polarizing topics, it can go quite differently. They can set people directly against each other. Consider a discussion on vaccination, asylum, climate change, or nitrogen. Sometimes these topics really drive people apart. If you find yourself in such a discussion with someone close to you, it can be very difficult or sad. It may even lead to losing each other. How do you prevent this from happening? How do you ensure you don’t lose each other?

Together with Being There, Coopr, and other agencies, we developed this campaign that encourages dialogue when a discussion threatens to polarize, and we offer 12 approaches that you can use to make sure you don’t lose each other.
