Nikki: ” TikTok is currently testing a new avatar feature that allows users to create an avatar of a digital character. This new feature uses your phone’s camera to take a selfie with a facial expression that the avatar should resemble.
The idea is that the avatars should start displaying human characteristics that match how Tiktok users want to present themselves.
TikTok avatars provide a new way to interact with the app, and they could also help TikTok capitalize on the coming shift to the Metaverse. Also, if this proves to be a success, Tiktok users could begin to see the avatars as part of their digital identity. In doing so, these avatars could even be “taken” to other platforms!”
